Types of Modelling
Editorial
Print Modelling
- This refers
to photography for magazines, including covers.
- This work
is very eagerly sought after by models because of the exposure
it provides.
- For this
reason you can expect to work long and hard for $100-$300
a day.
Commercial
Print Modelling
- This
refers to when models are photographed to promote a
product on billboards, buses, magazines and newspapers.
- This
type of modelling can be divided into two sections:
-
Fashion Advertising and
-
Product Advertising.
Catwalk
and Runnaway Modelling
This is
one of the most effective ways to gain exposure. Catwalk/
Runway models are usually quite stunning
- Your
main purpose is to look absolutely flawless to the
naked eye
- It
is considered the most glamorous type of live modelling.
- It
requires a lot of confidence and grace.
- Very
few women are nearly 180cm (six feet tall) and weigh
less than 55Kg (120 pounds).
- You
must make the audience think that you love the outfit
you are wearing.
- You
must look comfortable and make even the dullest outfit
look attractive.
- There
is a minimum height requirement of 170cm ( 5'8") or
173cm ( 5'9") for runway work.
- The
model is selected to show off the garment to its best.
- You
must make the beholder believe that the garment is
elegant, feminine, chic, unique, alluring, a show-stopper,
and expensive.
- Your
presentation of the clothing is what modeling is all
about.
- As
an observer looks at the model, that potential customer's
desire to be glamorous must be paramount.
- The
trick here is to make the buyer think that they will
look as great as you do.

Photographic
models are supposed to be the envy of every man and woman.
The aura of this
work is based on the premise that these are the chosen, the
beautiful people.
The psychology
of modeling is sometimes a barrier difficult to surmount.
Many people handle
the job as just that; others are put off by its artificiality
and as a result cannot sell themselves.
As in any
field, you must know yourself, what it is that will fulfill
you, and where you are headed
